OMG extended its Everseal Roof line with its 4-inch wide repair tape. The new EverSeal tape bonds to all common roof materials for long-lasting, watertight repairs, according to the company. Ideal for repairing punctures, tears, splits, and seams, the product can also be used to flash curbs, edge metal and skylights, and repair gutters.
High Wind Roof (HWR), the new standing seam roof product from Varco Pruden Buildings, is designed for projects that require high-wind codes or have Factory Mutual requirements.
Carlisle-Syntec Inc. offers the Roof Garden System featuring Weston Solutions Inc.'s GreenGrid, a modular green roof system. The system is an alternative to built-in green roof systems. It is composed of a series of preplanted modules made of recycled plastics.
Colbond Inc. introduces EnkaRetain and Drain, a sustainable roof product that absorbs and retains water so plant roots have a continuous source of moisture while allowing excess water to filter through and drain.
Green Products LLC offers the Environmental Liquid Membrane System for low-sloped roofing assemblies. The roofing membranes made with are agricultural soy oil-based polymers and designed to penetrate the existing roof substrate and create a permanent bond. They are made to create an overlapping waterproof membrane, which prevents bleed through and adds the product's high emissivity and long term UV resistance.
The system is 100 percent environmentally friendly with high bio-based content products and requires a single-coat application. It has 100 percent waterproof liquid membranes designed to hold ponding water, and meets UL Class A flame ratings for low-slope roofing. Resistant to oils, mold, algae and bacteria, the product is low odor and doesn't freeze.
Tremco introduces the GreenSave Life-Cycle Cost-Benefit Calculator from Tremco for comparing green roofs to conventional roofs. It determines the lowest cost investment for a specific roofing requirement over a specific time frame.
The calculator is useful in determining whether the initial cost of an investment is justified by reductions in future costs such as operating, maintenance, repair or replacement costs. It can capture roof benefits, such as storm water and heat island mitigation, extended roof durability, related energy costs and savings, development fee savings, marketing benefits, increased rentability and tenant health.
CoverDeck is a new engineered cover board for low-slope roofing systems developed by Firestone Building Products Company and Armstrong World Industries Inc. It has 54 percent recycled content and combines high wind- and water-resistance with outstanding strength-to-weight performance characteristics.
The manufacturer says it provides superior moisture resistance and high compressive strength during installation and throughout the life of the roofing system.
Said to be an excellent substrate for most roof systems, the product is easy to cut and is approximately 50 percent lighter than gypsum-based cover boards.
Once the product’s service life on a roof has ended, it can be reclaimed and recycled. The cost to do this is minimal to the contractor and building owner because the freight cost is covered for full truckloads.
The 3/8" and 5/8" products are available exclusively from Firestone. Visit the Firestone Web site for more information.
EcoStar, a manufacturer of steep slope roofing products, introduces a line of pad and pipe-style snow guards. The snow guards are engineered to meet a variety of snow loads, offering protection against the potential dangers of rooftop snow.
Complimenting the company’s existing line of cold-rolled copper snow guards, this new line features pad-style, Kynar-coated aluminum snow guards color-matched to each of the company’s nine tile shades. The coated snow guards measure 9 inches long by 2-1/2 inches wide and feature a wide face that helps prevent damage caused by avalanching snow and ice. Designed for use with a variety of steep slope roofing systems, these pad-style snow guards create friction that is evenly distributed over an entire roof surface. Once rooftop snow begins to melt, the snow guards help break it into small pieces that pose little danger to objects below.
