Leviton Acquires Obvious Energy Information Solutions

MELVILLE, N.Y. — Leviton Manufacturing Co., a maker of electrical wiring devices, lighting energy management systems and commercial data networking solutions, announced the acquisition of Obvius Energy Information Solutions, a provider of cost-effective hardware solutions to collect energy information.

Portland, Ore.-based Obvius offers products for data acquisition, wireless communications, energy dashboard software and plug-and-play hardware solutions. The acquisition enables Leviton to offer its customers “the most complete line of lighting and energy management solutions,” according to a company statement.

The Obvius acquisition is a strategic addition to complement Leviton’s line and the company can now offer solutions to meet all measurement- and verification-based opportunities, such as smart metering, energy data information, load management and LEED rating achievement.

“As the leader in lighting energy management solutions, our continued expansion into the measurement and verification market supports our customers’ efforts to validate and optimize the performance of their systems in pursuit of LEED credits and reduced energy use,” said Daryoush Larizadeh, Leviton’s chief operating officer. The move positions Leviton to offer a single-source solution by providing an integrated approach for tracking, monitoring and verifying energy consumption and implementing cost and carbon footprint reduction, he said.

“In combining our strengths with Leviton’s resources and 106 years of experience, Obvius will be even better positioned to deliver our customers innovative energy management solutions,” said Jim Lewis, CEO of Obvius.
