Precast Solar Footings
FLORENCE, Colo. – Holcim’s Portland cement plant recently started powering its operations with 528 solar panels, each of which are attached to Oldcastle Precast solar panel foundations. 
The panels will provide 156,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year to the Holcim plant. They are arranged in four units, with each unit accommodating 24 conventional solar panels made of polycrystalline silicone.
The solar array at the Florence plant is expected to prevent an estimated 301,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
Oldcastle’s Littleton, Colo., manufacturing facility supplied 44 of the patent pending precast solar panel foundations. Each foundation uses non-soil penetrating precast ballasted footings to support the solar assemblies, helping to reduce the overall environmental impact of the project.
Oldcastle products have been used for numerous alternative energy projects, including for wind and natural gas harnessing and production. Other related products include prefabricated inverter buildings, small wind turbine foundations, and precast subsurface units.
